Legacy
Many supporters have asked about making a gift to SPICMA in their wills.
Your legacy will enable us to continue supporting the Missionary Church overseas in both Emergency and Pastoral care. All the legacy you leave to SPICMA will be used for our work. Not one penny will be taken for expenses.
There are different types of gift you can make:
A cash gift
A specific gift
A share of your estate (%)
A gift in trust
Gifts to registered charities are exempt from UK inheritance tax (IHT). Following changes in the law, if you give at least 10% of your net estate to one or more registered charities, the rate of IHT on your (chargeable) estate is reduced from 40% to the lower rate of 36%.
If you are considering making a gift to SPICMA then, to avail yourselves of this relief, we recommend that you consult a solicitor or your local Citizen’s Advice Bureau who will be able to help you decide what type of gift is suitable for your circumstances and advise on the correct wording.
The following sample wording can be used to make a cash gift to SPICMA in your Will: I give to Special Projects in Christian Missionary Areas (registered charity number 270794) (“SPICMA”) the sum of [£value or %] for its general charitable purposes.
If you have a particular area of interest where you would like us to direct your gift, please leave a note of your wishes with your Will or get in touch with us. We will do our utmost to carry out your wishes.
